Product “Read/Write Multifunction SmartCard”

SmartCardLISCOM uses primarily a highly adaptable, battery-free microprocessor based contactless SmartCard technology. The key to that core technology is the method of contactless communication between SmartCard and SCI. A patented “matched antenna” system is based on the principle of impedance matching. It relies on the inductive nature of electromagnetic fields at low frequencies. This enables to transfer data and energy without the need of physical contact - up to 15 centimetres away from the reader.

Because it employs a microprocessor, the contactless SmartCard technology, used by LISCOM, provides for revision and expansion of existing applications, as well as addition of new aplications after the initial release of a card. In addition, LISCOM can provide a variety of data security and encryption capabilities, including DES private key and RSA public key data encription standards. At present, most existing contactless SmartCard technologies provide no security between the card and the reader.

LISCOM offers its contactless technology in tandem with contact SmartCardtechnology through its DuoCard TM multifunction SmartCard which provides both contact and contactless interfaces in one card.

LISCOM is offering a combined card where contact and contactless features use the same microprocessor and share the same operating system. Regardless of whether the communication is contact or contactless, the same microprocessor inside the card is activated, preserving data integrity and security.

A matched antenna technology allows the distance between the antenna and the electronic circuitry in the reader to vary from centimetres to as far as 30 meters. The LISCOM reader can be installed in a secured area to prevent vandalism and environmental interference.
